John Mateyko an alumni of Augustana College, who finished his studies with the class of '98. He embarked on a fruitful journey in the financial sector, launching his career at Dean Witter in 1999 in the dynamic city of New York. Over the years, he sharpened his skills as a Financial Advisor, associating with esteemed firms like Atlas Securities, US Bancorp, Chase, and Fifth Third Securities.
In 2010, John founded IDEX Financial, setting up base in the distinguished Zurich Towers of Schaumburg, IL. The company's significant growth led to its branching out into Atlanta, Georgia, where they incorporated a leading financial planning practice in 2018.
Ever eager to learn and grow, John is currently working towards the esteemed CIMA certification via the respected Yale School of Management. He has also been honored by the American College of Financial Planning, having been conferred the RICP® and the WMCP™ designations, in addition to the APMA® from the College For Financial Planning.
Away from the financial world, John retreats to the scenic community of Serenbe in rural Georgia. This charming location, showcased on the Today Show, stole his heart. In 2021, he initiated the Serenbe Athletic Association, taking on the mantle of Commissioner for the co-ed leagues of Chicago-style Softball and Kickball. Additionally, he devoted his time to coaching youth basketball for Schiller Park, IL from 2008-2013, and later extended his involvement in youth sports in Serenbe is 2020 and 2021.
John's enthusiasm for the arts is equally commendable. He was privileged to serve as Christian Bale's part-time stand-in on the movie sets of Batman Begins (‘05) and Public Enemies (‘09). Motivated by his affection for theater and philanthropy, he established the SMZ Community Theater Group. This initiative seeks to raise funds for Acton Academy in Serenbe, and they have successfully raised $451,000 so far. John has produced and directed through the theater group, notably staging The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge ('21) and currently gearing up for It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (anticipated in Dec '23).
On a personal note, John proposed to his wife Slavyana at the picturesque Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. They honeymooned along the beautiful Amalfi Coast, and enjoyed the splendor of Rome and Lake Como. Their son Sasha, now enjoys his summer camp at TASIS in Lugano, Switzerland.
John, an active outdoorsman, enjoys scuba diving in mesmerizing locations such as the Philippines, Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, Portugal, and the awe-inspiring whale shark exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium. His adventurous spirit has led to significant achievements, including winning the Midwinters San Francisco Bay Race as part of the foredeck crew on the Beneteau 50 and taking on the thrilling bike ride down the Haleakala volcano in Maui.
